RACINE, Wis.—Former President Donald Trump, during a speech in Racine, Wisconsin, brought Republican Eric Hovde on stage to discuss his campaign to unseat incumbent Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.).
The rally underscored the significance of Wisconsin in the upcoming November elections, with the Senate majority hanging in the balance.
“We win Wisconsin, and we win the whole thing,” declared the former president at the event, his third appearance in Wisconsin this year.
He quipped that Mr. Hovde, a fellow real estate developer, seemed like he was straight out of “central casting.”
Despite the primary being in August, Mr. Hovde is widely considered the presumptive nominee.
Despite the strong lead, Democrats in Wisconsin are already targeting Mr. Hovde, accusing him of using the term “shyster” as an anti-Semitic slur and criticizing his recent visit to Laguna Beach, California.
On the other hand, Wisconsin Republicans are focusing on Sen. Baldwin, highlighting reports that her partner, Maria Brisbane, assists wealthy clients in minimizing taxes while Sen. Baldwin condemns tax loopholes for the wealthy publicly.
Sen. Baldwin swiftly responded to former President Trump following his Racine appearance.
“She opposed it—I did it anyway,” stated former President Trump to his supporters on Tuesday night.
On stage, Mr. Hovde commended President Trump for a presidency free of wars, contrasting with the current conflict-ridden world.
