Two motorcyclists tragically lost their lives in a collision involving around 50 bikers on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Irvine on the morning of Aug. 25, according to authorities.
The incident took place at approximately 12:15 a.m. on the northbound freeway at Culver Drive, where a rider was reported down in the middle lane, as per the California Highway Patrol.
CHP confirmed that there were about 50 motorcyclists present at the crash site.
Emergency responders declared a second individual deceased at the scene at 12:25 a.m.
A Sigalert was issued to close the northbound lanes indefinitely at 12:21 a.m., but it was lifted at 4 a.m.
