A man was violently pushed onto the subway tracks in the West Village on Saturday by someone he had helped moments earlier, the police reported.
The incident occurred at the West 4th station around 4:45 p.m. when the suspect bumped into the victim, leading to a verbal altercation that turned physical, according to police sources.
The 34-year-old suspect, who has a criminal record, ended up on the Southbound A-train tracks during the scuffle, as per the NYPD.
The victim, also 34, assisted the suspect in getting back onto the platform, but was then punched in the face and pushed onto the roadbed where the suspect had fallen earlier.
Fortunately, no trains arrived at the station before a bystander helped the victim to safety, as reported by the police.
Officers present in the station quickly intervened and used mace on the suspect.
The suspect was apprehended and taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment.
