Andrea Williams, the chief executive of Christian Concern, highlighted that individuals are facing consequences for upholding Christian beliefs on marriage and gender.
The Christian Legal Centre in the UK receives approximately 1,000 case inquiries annually where people encounter difficulties due to their Christian convictions, according to Ms. Williams.
Andrea Williams, who leads Christian Concern (CC) and its Christian Legal Centre, expressed concerns that secular anti-discrimination laws are now enforcing adherence to a new ideology, which she views as intolerant and illiberal.
During an interview with NTD’s “British Thought Leaders,” Ms. Williams disclosed that the Christian Legal Centre deals with “1,000 case inquiries every single year, where individuals face repercussions in this country simply for believing in traditional marriage values or for challenging transgender ideologies.”
She described a disturbing scenario where a teacher lost her job and faced reporting to authorities for questioning an eight-year-old child’s desire to transition. This teacher was even deemed unsuitable to continue teaching and had her teaching license revoked.
Christian Concern has documented various cases on its website where educators, parents, and clergy members have lost their jobs or faced police intervention for allegedly misgendering individuals, questioning students’ requests for social transitioning, or objecting to the promotion of transgender ideologies in educational settings.
In a recent incident, a Christian primary school teacher, referred to as Hannah for legal reasons, was dismissed for raising safeguarding concerns about a child who wished to identify as a different gender, as reported by CC.

Ms. Williams also recounted the case of a Cameroonian asylum seeker who faced expulsion from a course and had a job offer rescinded due to holding a Christian belief on marriage.
Felix Ngole was pursuing a master’s degree in social work when he cited a Bible verse labeling homosexuality as an “abomination” during a Facebook discussion.
Subsequently, he was accused of bringing the social work profession into disrepute and was removed from the course. However, with the assistance of the Christian Legal Centre, the Court of Appeal ruled in his favor in 2019.
Reflecting on Mr. Ngole’s character as a caring individual, Ms. Williams emphasized that there was no evidence of discriminatory behavior from him.
She highlighted a poignant moment during the case when one of the Court of Appeal judges questioned whether even Mother Teresa would be considered discriminatory based on the analysis applied to Felix Ngole.
Christian Legal Centre is currently supporting Mr. Ngole in another legal battle after a healthcare provider allegedly rescinded a job offer upon learning about his previous court case.
Ms. Williams referenced the Magna Carta, emphasizing that Britain is historically known for its freedoms rooted in Biblical law.
She argued that recognizing God as the supreme law giver upholds the innate dignity of individuals in the eyes of the law, promoting true tolerance, respect, and non-coercion.
Ms. Williams criticized the impact of modern equality and anti-discrimination laws, stating that they have sidelined the idea of God, introduced conflicting human rights, and fostered intolerance while enforcing compliance with a new ideology.
