The recent mayhem in the Middle East, from Hezbollah to Hamas to the Houthis to Iran’s attack on Israel, can be attributed to the relaxation or disregard of sanctions against Iran by Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden. This allowed the Islamic Republic to gain billions in oil revenue and gifts, fueling the chaos.
President Obama pursued a nuclear treaty with the mullahs while turning a blind eye to their oppressive rule. President Trump imposed real sanctions on Iran, leading to relative peace in the region. However, President Biden reversed course, resuming the flow of money to the mullahs and risking further destabilization.
The excuse that this money was meant to help the Iranian people is laughable, as the regime’s atrocities are well-documented. President Biden’s actions seem motivated by political considerations, especially in states like Michigan with significant Muslim populations.
The U.S. presidents’ interference in Israel’s response to threats, particularly from Iran’s proxies like Hamas, has hindered the country’s ability to achieve decisive victories. Legacy media outlets, possibly influenced by political agendas, have also played a role in shaping public opinion on the conflict.
Despite these challenges, the reality remains that the disregard for sanctions against Iran has contributed significantly to the current turmoil in the Middle East.
Israel is now facing Iran’s direct attack with drones, missiles, and cruise missiles.
President Biden considers it a victory for Israel but refuses to offer assistance in any reprisal, urging them not to retaliate. The G-7 also discourages Israeli action and discusses potential sanctions.
Ayatollah Khamenei is likely unfazed by the threat of sanctions, as history has shown they have minimal impact.
This situation echoes past events where President Obama prevented Israeli attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities, as he was already providing financial support to Iran.
Will this inconsistency change?
