The United States imposed sanctions on an individual and a group for allegedly contributing to violence in the West Bank, also known as Judea and Samaria, which comprises Israeli and Palestinian neighborhoods with a history of conflict. Hashomer Yosh, a group founded in 2013 to assist farmers in the West Bank, was penalized for allegedly providing material support to a farm and individuals already under sanctions for violence. The group’s efforts include providing manpower, agricultural and security equipment, and emergency response. The United States also sanctioned Yitzhak Filant, the security coordinator for the West Bank neighborhood of Yitzhar, for engaging in activities beyond his authority, including leading armed Israelis in pursuing and expelling Palestinians from their lands. The State Department highlighted instances of violence and intimidation perpetrated by sanctioned individuals in the West Bank.
