The selection of Salt Lake City as the host city comes amidst tensions between the IOC and the U.S. government over a federal investigation into doping allegations against Chinese swimmers. The Salt Lake City Committee and the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) have affirmed their commitment to the World Anti-Doping Code to ensure fair play during the games.
Leading the delegation for the 2034 Games are Utah Gov. Spencer Cox, Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall, USOPC President Gene Sykes, and Salt Lake City-Utah Committee for the Games President Fraser Bullock.
