As part of the plea deal, Pvt. Travis King had nine other charges dismissed against him. The Texas court-martial sentenced the U.S. soldier who entered North Korea last year to one year in confinement and a dishonorable discharge, but he was later released due to time served. Pvt. King pleaded guilty to desertion, disobeying orders, and assault on a noncommissioned officer. His rank was reduced to E1, and he forfeited all pay and allowances. With credit for good behavior and time served, King is now free. The Army found that he disobeyed orders and assaulted a superior officer. King returned to Texas after being released from North Korea and has been in custody since.
