A charter plane carrying Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) was forced to make an emergency landing at a Wisconsin airport on Aug. 16 due to a door-seal malfunction, as reported by a spokesperson for the Vance campaign.
The pilot of the Boeing 737-86J jet, also known as “Trump Force Two,” experienced a mechanical issue and safely landed in Milwaukee, according to Vance spokeswoman Taylor Van Kirk. Van Kirk stated, “The pilot reported a malfunction with the door seal and declared an emergency landing. After the issue was resolved, the plane resumed its original flight path back to Cincinnati.”
Photojournalist Asher Heimermann, who witnessed the landing, shared updates on X, mentioning that the Milwaukee County Fire Department conducted an inspection of the plane before it continued its journey with 43 people on board. This incident occurred a week after a similar situation with Trump’s Boeing 757, “Trump Force One,” which was diverted to Billings-Logan International Airport during a rally in Bozeman, Montana.
An airport official confirmed that a mechanical issue necessitated the Aug. 9 diversion, with the plane landing safely. Trump was in Montana for a rally in support of Republican candidate Tim Sheehy, aiming to unseat Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.).
On Aug. 16, Vance was in Wisconsin to deliver a speech at the Milwaukee Police Association’s headquarters, focusing on crime and law enforcement. He highlighted the importance of supportive law enforcement policies, criticized current leadership’s border security policies, and advocated for stronger border control measures to improve community safety.
