A recent video showcases the moment two clumsy burglars used a crowbar to break through the glass door of a Queens drug store, but ended up leaving empty-handed, as per police reports.
The incident occurred around 6 a.m. on Dec. 15 at the pharmacy located on 108th Street near 45th Avenue in Corona, where the duo managed to break the roll-down gate, according to authorities.
In a surveillance footage released by the NYPD, one of the suspects can be seen attempting to pick or break the lock with the crowbar without success, before passing the tool to his accomplice who successfully smashed one of the glass doors.
Despite making their way inside the store, the pair fled without taking anything, cops mentioned.
However, authorities revealed that this failed burglary was part of a two-week-long spree involving eight incidents where the suspects, sometimes accompanied by a third person, managed to steal over $3,000, lottery tickets, and drugs.
The series of break-ins began around 5 a.m. on Dec. 6, when one of the men broke into another drug store on Main Street near 72nd Drive in Kew Gardens, as per police reports.
Subsequently, two other individuals entered the store, taking approximately $200 along with $35 worth of lottery tickets, authorities added.
Another incident occurred about an hour later when the trio smashed their way through the glass front door of a pharmacy on 164th Street near 64th Avenue in Fresh Meadows and stole around $100 from the register, cops stated.
A failed attempt took place around 5 a.m. on Dec. 12, when a lone suspect tried to break the roll-down gate of a drug store on 51st Street near 31st Avenue in Woodside but was unsuccessful, authorities disclosed.
The suspect gave up and fled in a gray Infiniti sedan without anything, cops mentioned.
Later, joined by two accomplices, the suspect tried again half an hour later to break the outer gate of another store on 30th Avenue near 23rd Street in Astoria, police reported.
Despite throwing a cinderblock at a window, the culprits were still unable to gain access inside, authorities noted.
Another burglary attempt occurred around 5:50 a.m. on Dec. 15 when a lone individual broke the glass front door of a drug store on 39th Avenue near 63rd Street in Woodside and stole about $400 from inside before fleeing, police stated.
Additionally, two suspects targeted a pharmacy on 108th Street near 63rd Drive in Forest Hills around 6:20 on the same day, breaking the glass door, entering the store, and taking various narcotics before leaving in an Infiniti sedan with a third person driving, cops mentioned.
The final burglary occurred around 5:50 a.m. on Dec. 20 when the suspects broke the locks securing the roll-down gate of a drug store on 13th Avenue near 81st Street in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn, and used a crowbar to smash the window. They managed to steal $2,400 along with more drugs before fleeing in the same Infiniti sedan driven by an accomplice, police mentioned.
