A shocking video captured the moment two masked individuals wielding baseball bats brutally attacked an unsuspecting woman on a downtown Manhattan street on Tuesday afternoon.
The victim, a 58-year-old woman, was casually looking at her cell phone while walking down Monroe Street in Two Bridges around 2 p.m. when the attackers, dressed in all black, approached from behind, as shown in surveillance footage.
The first attacker struck the woman in the back of her head, as seen in the video.
She tried to defend herself against the assailants, with one of them hitting her repeatedly with the baseball bat while the other kicked her and attempted to take her purse.
The attackers fled without stealing anything, and the woman was taken to New York Downtown Hospital with bruising on her left leg and swelling on the back of her head, according to the police.
The attackers, who were complete strangers, are still on the run.
