In Georgia, there are two runoff elections, but the winners are facing tough odds in November due to the districts being heavily in favor of the opposing party. In the 2022 election, Ferguson secured the seat with approximately 69 percent of the vote in Oklahoma.
In Oklahoma, the focus is on the Republican primary in the 4th Congressional District, where businessman Paul Bondar is challenging 10-term incumbent Tom Cole. Bondar, a political newcomer who sold his insurance group, has poured nearly $4.9 million into his campaign, mostly from his own funds. Although Bondar has criticized Cole’s support for foreign aid, Cole has garnered support from former President Trump.
Bondar has faced scrutiny over his residency, having most recently lived in Texas and even voting in that state’s Republican primary. The well-funded Bondar could pose a threat to Cole, especially with the Oklahoma runoff threshold in play. If Cole’s opponents keep him below 50 percent of the vote, there will be an August runoff between him and the next-highest vote-getter.
In the 1st Congressional District, incumbent Rep. Kevin Hern will face off against Paul Royse. On the Democratic side, Evelyn Rogers or former FBI agent Dennis Baker will challenge Hern in November.
In the 3rd District, Rep. Frank Lucas has two challengers, neither of whom has raised more than $20,000 this cycle.
