Wild surveillance video captures the moment a man attacked a worker at a Queens bike shop with a helmet, leading to intervention by another man who stabbed the attacker, as per police reports.
The incident unfolded around 1 p.m. on Monday outside the Fly E-Bike shop on 42nd Street near Broadway in Astoria, with the 35-year-old suspect becoming aggressive towards the 28-year-old employee.
Video footage obtained by The Post shows the attacker hitting the worker with a helmet after a heated exchange of words.
Another individual quickly emerged from the store and pursued the attacker onto the street.
Police stated that someone from the store stabbed the helmet-wielding suspect in the stomach, although it was not immediately clear if it was the same person seen chasing him.
Despite being injured, the initial attacker was captured on video smashing the helmet against the shop’s window.
Law enforcement arrived at the scene and attempted to apprehend the agitated man, who proceeded to bite one of the officers on the hand.
The struggle shown in the clip depicts officers having difficulty in handcuffing the man, resulting in a physical altercation on the floor.
The stabbed individual was transported to Elmhurst Hospital Center in stable condition, with pending charges against him.
The injured officer also received medical treatment at the hospital, as per authorities.
By Monday evening, the individual who intervened by stabbing the attacker had not been charged, with police unsure of his affiliation with the shop.
