A Wisconsin Man Charged with Identity Theft
A Wisconsin man, Zachariah Rasch, has been charged with identity theft after allegedly using his wife’s credit cards to purchase $6,000 worth of cleaning supplies. This incident occurred just a week after his wife, Crystal, was reported missing by her family.
Rasch allegedly made purchases that included stain remover, liquid drain opener, chemical-resistant gloves, a vacuum, air fresheners, wipes, and carpet cleaner using his wife’s credit cards. The suspicious shopping spree raised concerns as Crystal had been missing since at least June 10, with plans for divorce from Rasch in motion.
Initially, Rasch denied using his wife’s credit cards when questioned by the authorities. However, after being shown security footage of himself making the purchases, he admitted to lying about it.
Rasch has been charged with seven counts of misappropriating identification to obtain money and is currently held on a $250,000 bond.
Crystal was reported missing on June 23, and her car was found at her Dodge County home, undergoing forensic analysis. The couple, on the verge of divorce, had a scheduled hearing for August 8.
Security footage revealed that Rasch was alone when making the purchases and also used the credit cards for cash withdrawals. Rasch has a history of harassing his wife, with previous restraining orders due to domestic abuse incidents.
Authorities are investigating further as Crystal’s cell phone last pinged in Adams County, where Rasch owns land. Her car was also found in the same area, with significant evidentiary value, according to the police.
