A third shocking attack has occurred in Central Park within just two days as three young teens attempted to rob a man at gunpoint late Friday night, according to police.
In the latest incident, the armed muggers, who appeared to be around 14 or 15 years old, approached a 25-year-old man at 110th Street and East Drive and demanded his iPhone 11 around 10:12 p.m., the authorities stated.
The teens fled the scene without taking any of the man’s belongings, as per the police report.
This recent armed mugging follows a woman being sexually assaulted in the park at West 97 Street and West Drive, and a man being accosted on Friday morning by a group of armed individuals while he was taking photos at East 59th Street and East Drive, the authorities revealed.
During the robbery, one of the assailants pointed a firearm at the man’s head while the others punched him in the face. They proceeded to steal an iPhone 8, an iPhone 13, and a wallet before fleeing on mopeds along a bike path, according to the police.
In the case of the sexual assault, the perpetrator attacked the woman around 7:20 p.m. on Thursday, physically assaulting her and stealing her iPhone 11. The assailant also made inappropriate advances towards the woman, as reported by law enforcement sources.
The suspect, described as 5-foot-9 with curly short black hair and wearing all black, managed to flee the scene and remains at large, according to the authorities.
The woman declined medical treatment following the assault.
Authorities are currently investigating the incidents and are reviewing surveillance footage from the park to gather more information.
