Cops arrested a 32-year-old woman for murder after discovering the body of her ex-lover wrapped up in the back seat of her crashed vehicle, authorities said.
Margot Lewis of North Liberty, Iowa, was found on Interstate-90 with a good Samaritan comforting her near the wrecked car in the early hours of Saturday, June 22.
Upon inspection of the vehicle, cops found the bloody remains of Liara Kaylee Tsai, 35, of Minneapolis, according to Olmsted County Police.
The police report stated, “The condition of the deceased was suspicious, and it was immediately apparent that the death was not a result of the motor vehicle accident.”
Tsai was found wrapped in a bed sheet, a blanket, a futon-style mattress, and a tarp.
One deputy observed a large wound on the woman’s neck, with dried blood seeping through the bed sheet.
The local medical examiner determined that the injuries were not consistent with a crash, according to authorities.
Reports indicated that Lewis and Tsai were former romantic partners.
Following the arrest, a search warrant was executed at Tsai’s home in Minneapolis, revealing signs of violence.
Lewis is currently held on a $1 million bond in Olmsted County but has requested a transfer to Hennepin County with a lower bail.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office expressed condolences to Liara Tsai’s family and friends in a media release.
