A 24-year-old woman was taken into custody for allegedly fatally shooting one man and stabbing another during a gang-related incident at a residence in Anaheim, as announced by authorities on June 16.
Police officers were called to the scene at around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday in response to a shooting at the 800 block of West Cottonwood Circle, stated Sgt. Matt Sutter of the Anaheim Police Department.
“Before medical help could arrive, witnesses transported two victims to a nearby hospital,” Mr. Sutter reported.
Jose Andres Abrego, aged 30, who had sustained at least one gunshot wound, was declared deceased at the hospital. The second victim, an unidentified man, was stabbed at least once but was expected to survive, according to Mr. Sutter.
The suspect, Jannett Cureno, fled the scene before the authorities arrived. She was apprehended without incident at approximately 1 p.m. on Saturday on the 300 block of Newhope Street in Santa Ana, police confirmed.
Ms. Cureno was placed under arrest and is being held at the Anaheim Detention Facility on a $1 million bail.
