A woman was stabbed on a Los Angeles County hiking trail in Whittier, Calif., on Friday, May 31. Despite the attack, she was expected to survive, and a suspect was swiftly apprehended by law enforcement.
Whittier Police Department received a call about the stabbing at 12:30 p.m. on the Greenway Trail near Calmada Avenue. The victim, identified as an adult female, suffered a non-life-threatening injury and was treated at the scene before being taken to a hospital. The victim was able to provide a description of the suspect, leading to the quick arrest by responding officers and detectives in the nearby neighborhood.
The suspect, a 35-year-old man whose name was not disclosed, is now in custody. Police have increased patrols in the area as a precautionary measure.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear at this time.
