A man was apprehended in Southlake, Texas on Friday morning after reportedly driving down the wrong street, hitting vehicles, and discharging a rifle at multiple individuals, including a police officer.
The Southlake police received a call around 9:30 a.m. on Friday regarding a wrong-way driver in the 600 block of West Southlake Boulevard.
The driver collided with several vehicles while traveling eastbound before crashing in the 1400 block of East Southlake Boulevard, according to a police statement.
Upon approaching the crash site, the suspect retrieved a rifle from his vehicle and started shooting in the direction of the officer and another driver.
An exchange of gunfire occurred between the officer and the wrong-way driver, with no injuries sustained by either party or the other driver.
The suspect was successfully apprehended by the officer and other law enforcement officials present at the scene and remains in custody as of Sunday.
Surveillance footage from a nearby establishment captured people fleeing from the gunfire, with a man heard shouting, “He’s got a gun!”
A news release from Southlake Police identified the wrong-way driver as 19-year-old Sean Wallace Jordan from Colleyville, Texas.
He has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault against a public servant, and resisting arrest, search, or transport.
Online records indicate that Jordan is currently held at Tarrant County Jail on a bond of $271,500. It is unclear if he has retained legal representation at this time.
