Former Miami Dolphins star Xavien Howard is facing allegations of sharing explicit photos and videos of women, including sending sexual images to one victim’s son after she refused to have an abortion, as per a lawsuit filed in Broward County, Florida. The lawsuit claims that Howard’s actions were meant to humiliate the victims and cause emotional distress.
The two victims, identified as Jane and John Doe, filed the lawsuit in May, stating that Howard released explicit content without their consent. The lawsuit alleges that Howard started seeing Jane Doe in 2016 and entered into an exclusive relationship with her in early 2022, only to end things in July of the same year.
After their breakup, Jane Doe received a message on Instagram in September 2022 from a third party who claimed to have sexually explicit videos that Howard had sent, leading to the exposure of the explicit content.
According to the documents, Jane Doe confronted Howard about the shared videos, and he admitted to doing it to make her upset because she had declined to engage in sexual activities with him.
Despite receiving a cease-and-desist letter in October 2022, Howard continued to release the content without permission. In April 2023, Jane Doe was contacted by another woman who shared additional sexually explicit material involving Howard.
The lawsuit also mentions Jane Doe’s accusation that Howard filmed and took photos of her during intimate moments without her knowledge. John Doe, a minor at the time and the other plaintiff, claimed that Howard targeted his mother with disturbing content during their relationship.
Both victims suffered emotional distress due to Howard’s actions, which the lawsuit describes as an invasion of privacy and sexual cyber-harassment.
Revenge porn, the nonconsensual distribution of sexually explicit images or videos, has been illegal in Florida since 2015. Although no criminal charges have been pursued, Jane Doe is seeking damages over $50,000.
The lawsuit also highlights the financial losses and emotional impact suffered by Jane Doe due to the public exposure of the videos. Xavien Howard, who was released by the Dolphins in February, is currently a free agent.
Aside from this lawsuit, Howard was previously sued in 2022 for allegedly transmitting a sexually transmitted disease to a woman. The Miami Dolphins drafted Howard in 2016, and he was released with three years left on his contract.
