The small community of Mayo in the Yukon and its surrounding area are currently under evacuation alert due to wildfires in the region.
The Emergency Measures Organization in Mayo issued the alert on the evening of June 29 in response to the potential threat posed by the Roaring Creek wildfire.
Mayo, situated approximately 400 kilometers north of Whitehorse, is home to around 200 residents.
While the alert does not mandate immediate evacuation, residents are advised to make necessary preparations in case an evacuation becomes necessary.
The Roaring Creek wildfire, located about 15 kilometers north of Mayo, is currently classified as out of control.
Yukon has enlisted the help of 12 initial-attack crews and one air-tanker group from British Columbia to assist in firefighting efforts.
