According to the Wayne County (Mich.) Municipal Code, which encompasses Detroit:
Sec. 55-14.—Nondiscrimination by county contractors.
(1) Contractors must certify in writing their compliance with Section 120-192 of the Wayne County Procurement Ordinance, which prohibits discrimination based on various factors.
(2) Prospective contractors must provide employment data by category, sex, and minority group, along with equal employment opportunity policies and procedures.
Sec. 55-6(17) defines “minority” as:
Individuals of Black or African American, Native American, Alaskan native, Hispanic or Latino, Asian, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, Middle Eastern, Jewish, or Caribbean descent.
The ordinance was enacted in 20920. Requests for reports under this ordinance have not been made.
