Vice President Kamala Harris launched a national economic tour in Atlanta on Monday, aiming to energize Black voters in key battleground states. The tour will showcase the Biden administration’s efforts to support Black Americans and promote policies that will be crucial for Democrats in the upcoming November elections.
Addressing a predominantly Black audience, Harris emphasized the administration’s initiatives to enhance upward mobility and empower Black entrepreneurs. She highlighted resources available to Black business owners and entrepreneurs, urging community leaders to spread awareness about these opportunities.
During a discussion with the hosts of the financial literacy podcast “Earn Your Leisure,” Harris discussed the administration’s efforts to address the racial wealth gap, including providing small-business grants and student loan forgiveness.
Harris emphasized the importance of supporting minority-owned businesses and Black entrepreneurs to bridge existing disparities and promote economic success. She defended diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives against conservative opposition, stressing their significance in strengthening the nation.
The vice president’s tour will continue to other battleground states, focusing on economic issues vital to Black communities. Her engagement with Black men, a demographic showing softening support for Biden, will be a key aspect of the tour.
Accompanied by Georgia’s Democratic leaders, Harris highlighted the administration’s support for small-business research projects and historically Black colleges and universities. She also noted substantial investments in Atlanta’s revitalization projects and initiatives to address past injustices caused by federal transportation projects.
