An elderly man was brutally attacked in Brooklyn this week, leaving him unconscious and critically injured, according to authorities.
The 79-year-old victim, identified as Saleh Yahya by WABC, was walking on Flatbush Avenue near Lincoln Road in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens when the assailant approached him just before 11 p.m. on Monday.
The attacker kicked the senior in the face, causing him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness, police said.
Yahya, speaking from his hospital bed, mentioned that he only remembers buying food and then waking up in the hospital.
He was taken to Kings County Hospital Center in critical but stable condition and had no prior interaction with his attacker, as per police.
The brutal attack resulted in four fractured ribs and an injured spleen for the victim, as reported by the network.
Yahya expressed feeling very bad and unable to move due to the pain in his face and the cut on his head.
The elderly man, who is unsure of his release date from the hospital, mentioned that he does not have family to care for him.
Police released surveillance footage of the suspect, who remains at large as of Friday.
