A shocking incident occurred last Tuesday in Manhattan, where a woman was randomly attacked with a hockey stick in the latest unprovoked assault targeting women in New York City.
The 26-year-old victim was walking on East 6th Street in the East Village when a man suddenly approached her and struck her leg with a hockey stick without any warning, according to the police.
Paramedics treated the woman at the scene following the attack.
The attacker fled the scene and is still at large.
According to the NYPD description, the suspect was last seen wearing a black jacket, a light-colored hoodie, light-colored pants, and multi-color sneakers.
This assault is part of a series of unprovoked attacks on women in New York City, with several incidents reported in the past month.
Most of these random assaults involved male strangers punching women in their 20s, primarily in Manhattan.
Victims have shared their experiences on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, showcasing their injuries and prompting others to come forward with similar stories of attacks in NYC.
Despite two arrests in connection with separate incidents, the police believe that different suspects are responsible for each assault, despite the similarities in the attacks.
One victim, a 33-year-old marketing professional, expressed feeling unsafe knowing her attacker is still at large. Stephanie Weng, who was punched in the face near Union Square, described the incident as traumatizing and scary.
